Celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force

On 1 April 2008 the Royal Air Force will be celebrating the 90th Anniversary of its foundation.

Marshall of Cambridge will be taking part in these celebrations by having an Ensign-raising Ceremony which will take place in front of the Marshall Aerospace Head Office Building at 1330 hrs on Tuesday 1 April 2008. Group Captain Mark Hobbs and Mr Grahame Nix, Chief Operating Officer of Marshall Aerospace will jointly take the Salute when the Royal Air Force Ensign is proudly unfurled at the head of the Marshall Aerospace flagpole in front of the building.

A number of Royal Air Force personnel from RAF Wyton, many of whom work at Marshall Aerospace as part of the Hercules Integrated Operational Support Team will be present at this ceremony in uniform, and two Hercules aircraft of the Royal Air Force will fly past in salute. Trumpeters from the The Royal British Legion (Fulbourn and Teversham Branch) will play a fanfare as the aircraft flies over and a joint Guard of Honour will be provided by the Royal Air Force and cadets from No. 104 (City of Cambridge) Squadron of the Air Training Corps.

Group Captain Mark Hobbs, the Hercules Integrated Project Team Leader said "Marshall of Cambridge has supported a significant number of Royal Air Force aircraft over the years which today particularly includes the Hercules aircraft. This is a very significant Anniversary for the Royal Air Force and we are deeply honoured and delighted to be holding this joint celebration". Mr Michael Marshall, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Marshall Group of Companies said "We are delighted and enormously proud to have supported the Royal Air Force on a continuous unbroken basis for seventy of the ninety years of its existence, and particularly for the support which we have been able to give in recent years on the C130 Hercules which has done so much for our Nation and the World".
